Stevie Nicks

Rumours- Fleetwood Mac

This record was a great edition to my collection. The Rumours album was a pivotal point of Fleetwood Mac's career staying atop the charts for 31 weeks. This album is one of my personal favorites from the band. Its my favorite not only due to Stevie's presence within the band and the notoriety of the album itself, but the story behind the making of the album. The majority of the album the entire band avoided talking to one another. The soap-opera dramatics of the relationships going on in the band made every live performance a raw interaction as opposed to a well rehearsed stage presence interaction. Christine and John McVie were mid divorce, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham were in an unfaithful and failing relationship, and Mick Fleetwood had just learned that his wife was having an affair while trying to hold the band together. I could go on and on about this album but essentially every song written was for and about the band. The Chain was a joint song written by the band about the betrayal that they faced from their bandmates. Gold Dust Woman is Stevie's song talking about the band's use of drugs to cope with the stress of fame and the turmoil that the negative environment. I would love to find the deluxe edition of this album on vinyl that includes the live 1977 version of Rihannon , and some added songs like Silver Springs .

Give the 2016 remastered edition a listen!
